I just though it looked crap lol I suppose It would be an Idea to get the car you learn to drive in...... but you've got to consider insurance! costs enouch money to ensure an old piece of **** lol all insurance costs money over here its crazy 33 years old neww 1.6 meriva 3 named drivers on teh policy with 60 no claims bonus between us and it will cost the equilivant of £700.00

Good place to try is diamond, they specialise in female drivers. My sister got a much better quote through them when she first passed her test.
If you can, try getting your mum as a named driver on YOUR policy as this may bring the cost down.
Consider going Thirdparty fire and theft, or if the car isn't worth much just thirdparty only. Most of the time if your car costs less than £1000 it's not worth insuring it with anything else other than third party only.
Also have a think about a mileage restriction, if you aren't going to do much distance because you're only doing local driving sometimes you can get a good discount for that.
Oh aye .. and don't get nicked for speeding:p

Heh, That's what i said just before i got pulled on the M1 last easter ... cos me 220 quid and 6 points but no ban *Yaay* but as i said, lesson learned! Now if i'd have been cute, female and wearing something scanty i might have got away with blinking lasciviously ... knowing my luck i'd have picked the only gay policeman on duty Of course the one i got stopped by may well have been gay, sadly it seems he didn't find me cute enough to let me off :-)
